Save links
Drag, drop, done — and three other ways when dragging is awkward.
Drag a tab into the panel
Drag a tab, or the address from the address bar, onto the panel:
- On a group — the link is filed there.
- Anywhere else — it goes to the Inbox, unless one of your rules knows where it belongs.
There is no dialog. Then close the tab; that is the point.
Other ways
- ⌥⇧S saves the current tab. You can change the shortcut in the browser’s extension settings.
- Right-click → Save to Waypoint, on a page or on a link. The submenu lets you pick a group directly; Save (its group, by rules, or Inbox) lets Waypoint decide.
- The desktop window accepts links dragged from any browser: drop on a group in the sidebar, or onto the open group.
Some browsers do not let you drag tabs out of the tab bar. Use the address bar, ⌥⇧S or right-click there.
Saving into the group you picked
Click a group in the panel to select it (blue frame). The next save goes there.
Close the tab after saving
Off by default. Switch it on in Settings › General › Close the tab after saving; it applies in every browser.
The same link twice
Saving a link you already have does not create a copy. It adds the group to the existing link, so one link can live in several groups.
What Waypoint adds by itself
After saving, the app fetches the page’s icon and its own short description. Both make links easier to recognise, and the description is searchable, so even a link without topics is found.
