Agents (MCP)
Let Claude Code, Codex and other agents sort and find your links.
Waypoint has an MCP server built in, so an AI agent can work with your links: “sort my Inbox”, “what did I save about Remotion last month?”. It runs inside the app on your Mac.
Connect an agent
- In Settings › Agents (MCP), give the agent a name (Claude Code — MacBook) and click Create token.
- Copy the command for your agent and run it in a terminal. Copy it right away: Waypoint keeps only a fingerprint of the token and cannot show it again.
For Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http waypoint http://127.0.0.1:7787/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <token>"
For Codex:
export WAYPOINT_TOKEN=<token>
codex mcp add waypoint --url http://127.0.0.1:7787/mcp --bearer-token-env-var WAYPOINT_TOKEN
Any other agent that speaks MCP over HTTP works the same way: the address above, with the token as a bearer token.
What agents can do
Search and list links, groups and topics; save and move links; add and remove topics; create groups, topics and rules; open a link in your browser. Agents also get a short guide to how Waypoint is meant to be organised, so they keep to your structure instead of inventing their own.
In Claude Code, four ready-made jobs show up as slash commands: sort_inbox, tag_untagged, tidy_topics and suggest_structure.
Undo
Every change an agent makes is logged under its session. Settings › Agents (MCP) › What agents changed lists the sessions; Undo reverts a whole session at once. Deleting is a soft delete, so nothing an agent does is permanent.
Revoke a token to cut that agent off.
