Install Waypoint
The Mac app, then the panel in each browser you use.
Waypoint has two parts: a small Mac app that keeps your links, and a side panel in each browser you use. The panel needs the app; the app works on its own too.
The Mac app
Waypoint needs macOS 13 or newer. Open the downloaded file and drag Waypoint into Applications. When it runs, it lives in the menu bar: click the icon for Open Waypoint (⌘O), Settings… (⌘,) and Quit Waypoint (⌘Q).
Quitting stops the panel from reaching your links. Anything you drop into a panel meanwhile is kept and saved once the app runs again.
The browser panel
| Browser | Get it from | Where the panel opens |
|---|---|---|
| Chrome, Brave, Helium | Chrome Web Store | Side panel — click the Waypoint icon in the toolbar |
| Edge | Edge Add-ons | Side panel |
| Firefox, Zen | Firefox Add-ons, or our signed file | Sidebar |
| Safari | later | — |
Which side the panel opens on is a setting of each browser, not of Waypoint.
Without a store
- Firefox and Zen: download the signed
.xpifile from the releases page and open it in the browser. It installs with one click and updates itself. - Chrome, Edge, Brave, Helium: browsers only install from their stores with one click. For testing, download the Chromium
.zip, unpack it, open the browser’s extensions page (chrome://extensions), switch on Developer mode, click Load unpacked and pick the unpacked folder. The browser reminds you at start that a developer extension is installed.
Next: connect the browser.
