Connect a browser
Each browser pairs with the app once, with one click.
Any website could send requests to an app on your Mac, so Waypoint only answers browsers you have allowed. Each browser pairs once.
Pairing
- Make sure the Waypoint app is running (the icon in the menu bar).
- Open the Waypoint panel in the browser. It looks for the app and shows Connect this browser.
- Click Connect. Some browsers first ask you to Allow access — the panel only ever talks to the app on this Mac (
127.0.0.1). - The panel shows a short code, and the app shows “
wants to connect” with the same code. Check that they match and click Allow.
That’s it. The browser keeps its connection, also after restarts.
Seeing and removing connections
Settings › Extensions lists every connected browser and when it was last seen. Revoke cuts it off; that browser has to pair again to use Waypoint.
When the panel says “Waypoint isn’t running”
Start the app from Applications. You can still drop tabs onto the panel meanwhile; they are kept and saved as soon as the app is back.
Waypoint listens on port 7787. If something else uses that port, it takes the next free one and tells you in the menu bar. The panel finds it on its own.
