Settings and your data
Every setting, plus backups, import and export.
Open settings from the menu bar icon (Settings…, ⌘,) or the sidebar of the desktop window.
General
- Local port — where browsers and agents connect, 7787 by default. If it is taken at start, Waypoint uses the next free port and says so in the menu bar. A change applies after a restart. Agents set up with the old port need the new address.
- Close the tab after saving — when a tab is dropped into the panel or saved with ⌥⇧S. Off by default; applies in every browser.
- The version and build of the app.
Browsers
The default order of browsers (and profiles) that links open in. See Open links in the right browser.
Rules
Test a URL, list, add and remove rules.
Extensions
Connected browsers, when each was last seen, and Revoke. See Connect a browser.
Data
Everything stays on your Mac in one database file. No account, no cloud.
- Backups — a copy is taken every day; the last 14 days are kept. Restore goes back to one, and keeps the current state as a backup too.
- Import — a Waypoint backup (JSON) merges in, newer changes win. Browser bookmarks (HTML export) and Raindrop (CSV export) land in a new group: folders become sub-groups, tags become topics.
- Export — a full JSON backup to your Downloads folder: groups, facets, topics, rules and browser choices.
Agents (MCP)
Agent tokens, setup commands and the undo list. See Agents.
